"My life flows on in endless song. How about you?" asks 18-year-old independent recording artist Kate Howard, better known as MissTaintedLove (no spaces) to her loyal fans.

"I love vocals, writing, playing, and making music. It's who I am. It's what I do, and it's my passion."

"I make music about chaos and other joys. I'll be a big-time music dork for a long time." adds Kate, a female alternative rock performer from York County. When asked about the meaning of her moniker MissTaintedLove, Kate cryptically replies "Relates to the person who I am, when writing my songs."

A fiercely independent young Pennsylvania woman and unsigned recording artist, MissTaintedLove says "I love vocals, writing, playing, and making music. It's who I am. It's what I do, and it's my passion."

"I never really wanted to fit right into a genre strictly, always wanted to dabble around and work on creating something uniquely me." says Kate. "Each song that I make reflects a certain part of me." Her music combines varied influences: from the bluegrass of her childhood to metal and pop. "My father's family played bluegrass, so when I'd go around to the open mics, that's what I'd do -- sing bluegrass and play fiddle. In the music I've been recording, a lot of elements have come into play." When pressed to pick a genre to describe her music, Kate says "Alternative. I love the combination of synth, electric guitar, piano, strings, etc. But also, some of those elements on their own. I want to be diverse, but those are my favorites.

In 2010, Kate recorded 10 original songs including her first single, "When The Blood Comes", an upbeat and loud anthem to the pangs of serious regret. That single was MissTaintedLove's first commercial release into the world of digital distribution. "I can't wait to get back in the studio this year and record even more!"

If you're not yet familiar with "When The Blood Comes" and other music by MissTaintedLove, listen on her own YouTube channel. You can also listen and enjoy the pictures on her web site MissTaintedLove.com. and follow her on Twitter and Facebook. She's also in the iTunes store and on CDbaby.com.

Home schooled since 4th grade, Kate has earned "a lot of high school credits for my music, vocals, and writing." She'll be performing a lot more once she graduates, at community events, senior centers, and even local music stores. She'll enter a certificate program in music theory & writing, along with courses in producing at Berklee College of Music in Boston. This comes with college credits that she can use towards a future music degree.

"I am always making goals, and when I was first getting into music, the biggest thing about the music business that fascinated me was promotion, so I'm very intricate when explaining my goals." After her recent release of "When the Blood Comes" in February, she will release more material throughout the year. "I'm going back into the studio again. I want to get licensed as an arranger from ASCAP and begin recording not just covers, but songs written by others with my own arrangements."

Kate's inspiration comes from "anyone who has ever had to fight like hell to get where they are today. Anyone who has a hybrid type sound and doesn't fit 100% genre wise. Anyone who at least tries to be original and not just a carbon copy. Anyone who writes from their hearts and never gives up."
